NEWS RELEASE: Utah Reaches Settlement Against Johnson and Johnson

Utah Attorney General Reyes, on behalf of the Utah Division of Consumer Protection and with 42 other attorneys general, reached a $700 million nationwide settlement to resolve allegations related to the marketing of Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder and body powder products that contained talc. As part of the settlement, Utah will receive $7,540,013 over four years, for approximately $1.88 million each year.

The Utah Department of Commerce has appointed Adam Watson as the new Director of the Utah Division of Corporations and Commercial Code (DCCC). Watson brings an extensive background in managing investigation teams and a commitment to public service. Watson previously served as the Chief Investigator for the Utah Division of Consumer Protection (DCP).

The Utah Department of Commerce has appointed Dr. Zachary Boyd as the Director of the newly established Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy. Dr. Boyd brings an extensive background in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, which will help lead the state’s efforts in exploring AI technologies and developing policies.
