April 1, 2024

Salt Lake City, Utah – The Utah Department of Commerce has appointed Leigh Veillette as the new Director of the Utah Division of Real Estate (DRE). Veillette, who has an impressive background in regulatory oversight and legal analysis, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She previously served as the Division of Corporations and Commercial Code (DCCC) director and worked as an investigator and legal analyst at the Division of Consumer Protection.

“We are thrilled to welcome Leigh Veillette as the new Director of the Utah Division of Real Estate,” said Margaret Busse, Executive Director of the Utah Department of Commerce, expressing confidence in Veillette’s ability to guide the agency forward. “Her comprehensive understanding of the regulatory landscape and her dedication to public service make her the ideal appointment to this important role.”

DRE regulates real estate, mortgage, and appraisal professionals in the state of Utah. In 2023, the Division reported 22,853 active licensees, including sales agents, principal brokers, associate brokers, and branch brokers.

“I’m very grateful for this opportunity,” said Veillette. “Protecting the people of Utah through education and responsible regulation has been a cornerstone of my career. I am energized by this new challenge overseeing such a vital sector of Utah’s economy.”

Veillette holds a bachelor’s degree in history, summa cum laude, from Auburn University and a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. Despite her ties to Alabama, she remains a dedicated Auburn fan. Her legal career began as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Chris M. Comer in the 23rd Judicial Circuit of Alabama, laying a strong foundation for her subsequent public service and leadership roles.
